NEW: Postpartum/Anxiety
Depression Support Group to Start October 29
MISSION STATEMENT
Family Network, a Family Focus Center, is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian,
family support agency open to all regardless of ability to pay or geographic
location. Our mission is to promote the well being of children from birth by
supporting and strengthening their families in and with their community.
The Parent/Child Center:
Since its founding in 1983, the morning drop-in program provides parent support,
social and educational programs, and child development activities for families
with children ages birth-4. Parents/caregivers remain on site, either in the
children's playrooms or in the Parent Lounge, where they may enjoy informal time
with other parents, discussions, and speakers. Children are cared for by qualified
early childhood professionals in toddler and preschool playrooms, and a gradual
separation experience is encouraged. The Baby & Me Room is designed especially
for parents with infants, providing an informal play group setting facilitated
by an infant specialist.
After School Activity Program(ASAP)
Family Network's After School Activity Program (ASAP) originated at the beginning
of the 2004-2005 school year in collaboration with North Shore School District 112
to meet the needs of working parents. Our goal is to provide quality after school
care for families with children in afternoon kindergarten through fifth grade.
We offer a program, licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services,
which engages the children in a variety of enrichment activities, gives assistance
with daily homework, and provides daily exercise and active play. Each classroom
environment is one of acceptance, warmth, enthusiasm and patience, which promotes
a sense of belonging and fosters a close knit group of children and staff.
Qualified, creative team members provide opportunities for social, emotional,
physical and intellectual growth all in the context of fun. When 6 p.m. comes,
no one wants to leave!
